Alvey Style Rods
"The Right Rod for the Right Reel"

For a balanced outfit and optimum performance, we offer a selection of rods designed specifically for the Alvey Side Cast Reel. Each rod is designed to match the model of Alvey reel indicated in the description. They have the recommended stripper guide size and spacing (distance from reel to first guide), and reversed reel seats. All models have foregrips sized for holding the rod in front of the reel for a fly rod type balance. Butt grips are short, but still long enough to fit in a sand spike or rod holder. For surf casting, especially, this design is much less tiring than having to reach out to the reel when casting and retrieving as is typical with long butt grip style rods.

"AL" Model
The "AL" model rods are made in China for Alvey Reels Australia and are illustrated in the Alvey catalog. They are black fiberglass with graphite reel seats, black foam grips, aluminum oxide guides with black stainless steel frames, and black guide wrappings with colored accent borders and decorative accent wrapping in front of the foregrip. All rods are fitted with an Alvey Open Runner.

"MT", "C" and "CR" Model
The "MT", "C" and "CR" model rods are custom made by the Australian company, Snyder Glas, which also markets these rods in Australia. Snyder Glas is located across the street from the Alvey manufacturing plant and has had a long relationship with the Alvey company. All rods are built on light-weight S-Glass blanks which have the typical translucent honey brown color (except for the MT144 8W which is black). Grips are black foam and the reel seat is graphite with stainless steel hoods. The guides are Fuji aluminum oxide with black stainless steel frames and the wrappings are blue, green, or red with white or yellow underwrap on the base guide and open runner. Color choices are random. The Model MT144 8W is fitted with Fuji Hardloy guides. All models are fitted with an Alvey Open Runner.

AL500 A medium action 7 ft. rod for casting 3/8 to 1 oz. weights with 6 to 12 lb. test line. Matches with Alvey reel models 40BCXL, 40/A1, 45C1 and the 500BC or BCXL. The foregrip is 6-1/2", the butt grip 7-1/4" and the stripper guide is 33" from the reel. Can be used with the "Easycast" system (as illustrated in the Alvey catalog). $30.00

AL550 A medium action 9 ft. rod for casting 3/8 to 1-1/2 oz. weights with 8 to 15 lb. test line. Matches with Alvey reel models 500C5, 500BC (or BCXL) and the 55BC. The foregrip is 6-1/2", the butt grip 7-1/4" and the stripper guide is 41" from the reel. $35.00

AL600 A multi-taper medium action 10 ft. 6 in. rod for light saltwater surf and bay casting. Matches Alvey reel models 55C5, 600BC (or BCXL) and 600C5. Designed to cast 1 to 3 oz. weights with 10 to 20 lb. test line. The foregrip is 10", the butt grip 8-1/4" and the stripper guide is 40" from the reel. $48.00

AL625 Surf Champion A multi-taper medium action 12 ft. surf casting rod with a strong butt section. Matches Alvey reel models 550C5, 600C5, 650BC or BCXL, 650C5, 650GRBC, and 700C5. Designed to cast 2 to 4 oz. weights and 12 to 20 lb. test line. $80.00

CR126 5W Executive Special A multi-taper medium action 10 ft. 6 in. (3.2m) medium action rod for light saltwater, surf casting and medium freshwater applications. Matches Alvey reel models 500C5, 55C5, and 600BC (or BCXL). Designed to cast 1/2 to 2 oz. weights and 8 to 12 lb. test line.
